We’ve launched a new Save for later feature on Google Play Console’s Publishing overview to give you more control over when you send changes for review.

In the past, changes to your app were bundled together before being sent for review. This presented challenges if you needed to reprioritize changes, or if the changes were no longer relevant. For example, updates to your test tracks grouped with marketing changes that need to be rescheduled. This lack of flexibility meant that if some changes were ready for review but not others, you could end up delaying urgent fixes, or publishing changes that you weren’t quite ready to make.

Now, you have the ability to hold back the changes you’re not ready to have reviewed.

How it works

In the ‘Changes not yet sent for review’ section of the Publishing overview page, select ‘Save for later’ on the groups of changes that you don’t want to include in your next review. You can view and edit the list of saved changes, and return them to the Publishing overview if you change your mind. Once the review has started, your saved changes will be added back to ‘Changes not yet sent for review’.

Integration with our pre-review checks

Save for later also works with our pre-review checks. Pre-review checks look for issues in your changes that may prevent your app from being published, so that you can fix them before you send changes for review. If checks find issues with your app, there are two ways you can proceed:

  • If issues are isolated to an individual track, we’ll show you an error beside that change, so you know what to save for later in order to proceed to review with your other changes.
  • If you have issues that affect your whole app, for example, App content issues, Save for later will be unavailable and you will need to fix them before you can send any changes for review.

Greater flexibility in your workflows

Our goal for Save for later is to give you greater flexibility over your release schedule. With this feature you can manage what changes you send for review, and address issues affecting individual tracks without holding up ready-to-release changes, so you can iterate faster and minimize the impact of rejections on your release timeline.

So, what’s next?

We’re committed to continuously improving your publishing experience. Save for later is a significant step towards providing you with more granular control over this all-important stage in the journey to publishing your app. We’ll continue to gather your feedback and look at ways we can provide greater flexibility to the review and publishing process.

We’re excited to see how Save for later helps you to streamline your release process and bring your app innovations to users even faster.

Hi everyone,

Thank you for making 2025 another amazing year for Google Play.

Together, we’ve built Play into something much more than a store—it’s a dynamic ecosystem powered by your creativity. This year, our focus was ensuring Play continues to be the best destination for people to discover incredible content and enjoy rewarding gaming experiences.

We’re incredibly proud of the progress we’ve made alongside you, and we’re excited to celebrate those who pushed the boundaries of what’s possible—like the winners of our Best of 2025 awards. Watch our recap video to see how we’ve made Play even more rewarding for your business, or read on for a more in-depth look back on the year.

Evolving Play to be more than a store

This year, we focused on evolving Play into a true destination for discovery where billions of people around the world can find and enjoy experiences that make life more productive and delightful.

Making Play the best destination for your games business

Just a few months ago, we shared our vision for a more unified experience that brings more fun to gaming. Today, players often jump between different platforms to discover, play, and get rewarded. Our goal is to connect these journeys to create the best experience for players and, consequently, grow your business. Our first steps include these key updates:

  • A new Gamer Profile that tracks cross-game stats, streaks, and achievements, customizable with a Gen AI Avatar.

  • Integrated Rewards across mobile and PC that give players access to VIP experiences like our Four Days of Fantastic Rewards at San Diego Comic-Con,  Diamond District experience on Roblox, and Play’s own treasure-hunt mini-game Diamond Valley alongside new Play Games Leagues where players can compete in their favorite games, climb leaderboards, and win Play Points rewards.

  • The new Play Games Sidekick, a helpful in-game overlay that curates and organizes relevant gaming info, and provides direct access to Gemini Live for real-time AI-powered guidance in the game. We recently rolled out the open beta to developers, and we encourage you to start testing the sidekick in your games and share your feedback.

  • Integrated gameplay across devices is now fully realized as Google Play Games on PC has graduated from beta to general availability, solidifying our commitment to cross-platform play and making our catalog of over 200,000 titles available across mobile and PC.

Play Games Sidekick is a new in-game overlay that gives players instant access to their rewards, offers, and achievements, driving higher engagement for your game.

To help you get the most out of this unified gaming experience, we introduced the Google Play Games Level Up program, a new way to unlock greater success for your business. For titles that meet core user experience guidelines, you can unlock a powerful suite of benefits including the ability to:

  • Re-engage players on the new You tab, a new personalized destination on the Play Store that is designed to help you re-engage and retain players by showcasing content and rewards from recently played games in one dedicated space. You can utilize engagement tools in Play Console to feature your latest events, offers, and updates.

  • Maximize your game’s reach with prominent boosts across the store, including featuring opportunities, Play Points boosters and quests, and enhanced visibility on editorial surfaces like the Games Home and Play Points Home.

You tab is a personalized destination designed to help you re-engage and
retain players by showcasing your latest events, offers, and updates.

Unlocking more discovery and engagement for your apps and its content

Last year, we shared our vision for a content-rich Google Play that has already delivered strong results. Year-over-year, Apps Home has seen over an 18% increase in average monthly visitors with apps seeing a 9% growth in acquisitions and double-digit growth* in app spend for those monetizing on Google Play. We introduced even more updates to elevate discovery and engagement on and off the store.

  • Curated spaces, launched last year, have been a success, fostering routine engagement by delivering daily, locally relevant content (such as football highlights in Brazil, cricket in India, and comics in Japan) directly to the Apps Home. Building on this, we expanded to new categories and locations, including a new entertainment-focused space in Korea

Curated spaces make it easier to find and engage with local interests.

  • We significantly increased timely, relevant content on Google Play through Spotlight and new topic browse pages. Spotlight, located at the top of Apps Home, offers seasonal content feeds—like Taylor Swift’s recent album launch or holiday movie guides—in a new, immersive way to connect users with current cultural moments. Concurrently, new topic browse pages were integrated across the store in the U.S., Japan, and South Korea, allowing content deep dives into over 100,000 shows and movies.

Spotlight offers an immersive experience connecting users

with relevant apps during current cultural moments.

Last year, we introduced Engage SDK to help you deliver personalized content to users across surfaces and seamlessly guide them into the relevant in-app experiences. Integrating it unlocks surfaces like Collections, our immersive full-screen experience bringing content directly to the user’s home screen. This year, we rolled out updates to expand your content’s reach even further:

  • Engage SDK content expanded to the Play Store this summer, enabling seamless re-engagement across Apps Home and the new You tab.

  • Rolled out to more markets, including Brazil, Germany, India, Japan, and Korea

Supporting you throughout your app lifecycle

In addition to evolving the store, we’ve continued to build on our powerful toolset to support you at every stage, from testing and release to growth and monetization.

Helping you deliver high-quality, trusted user experiences

We launched key updates in Android Studio and Play Console to help you build more stable and compliant apps.

New Android vitals metrics help you resolve stability problems and address battery drain.

Boosting your productivity and workflow

We refined the Play Console experience to make managing your app and your marketing content more efficient.

  • We put your most essential insights front and center with a redesigned app dashboard and overview pages.

  • To repurpose creative content across Play Console more easily, we launched an asset library that lets you upload from Google Drive, organize with tags, and crop existing visuals.

  • You can now automatically translate app strings with Gemini at no cost. This feature eliminates manual translation work for new releases, making updates seamless. You remain in full control with the ability to preview translations using a built-in emulator, and can easily edit or disable the service.

Translate app strings automatically with Gemini, while maintaining full control for previewing and editing.

Maximizing your revenue with secure, frictionless payments

We introduced new features focused on driving purchases and maximizing subscription revenue globally.

  • We’re improving purchase conversion globally with over 800 million users now ready to buy. We launched features that encourage users to set up payment methods early, provide AI-powered payment method recommendations, and expanded our payment library to support more local payment methods globally.

  • To maximize recurring revenue from over 400 million paid subscriptions, we introduced multi-product checkout, allowing you to sell base subscriptions and add-ons under a simple, single transaction.

  • To combat churn, we began showcasing subscription benefits in more places and provided you with more flexible options like extended grace periods and account holds for declined payments, which has proven effective in reducing involuntary churn by an average of 10%*.

To help reduce voluntary churn, we’re showcasing your subscriptions benefits across Play.

Investing in our app and game community with developer programs

We’re proud to invest in programs for app and game companies around the world to help you grow and succeed on Play.

  • Google Play Apps Accelerator: We’ve opened submissions for our program that will help early-stage app companies scale their business. Selected companies from over 80 eligible countries will join a 12-week accelerator starting in March 2026, where they can learn more about creating high-quality apps, go-to-market strategies, user acquisition, and more.

Submissions are still open for our 12-week accelerator, which starts in March 2026.
Apply by January 7, 2026 for consideration.

  • Indie Games Fund (Latin America): Now in its fourth year, this fund provides support to 10 promising game studios in Latin America with funding and hands-on support from Google Play. In October, we announced the 2025 recipients.

  • ChangGoo Program (South Korea): Now in its seventh year, this program works with over 100 Korean mobile app and game startups to foster their growth and expansion in collaboration with the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Korean Institute of Startup and Entrepreneurship Development (KISED).

  • Google Play x Unity Game Developer Training Program (Indonesia): The third edition launched in April, offering a 6-month online curriculum, meetups, and mentorship for Indonesian game developers in partnership with Indonesia’s Ministry of Creative Economy and the Indonesian Gaming Association.

  • Google Play x Unity Game Developer Training Program (India): The first India cohort kicked off in November with 500 aspiring and professional game developers. The 6-month journey provides online curriculum and meetups in partnership with GDAI and the govt of Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra.

Protecting your business and our ecosystem

At the heart of all the progress we’ve made this year is a foundation of trust and security. We’re always innovating to make Play safer for everyone—so users can trust every app they download and so you can keep building a thriving business.

To offer stronger protection for your business and users, we continued to enhance the Play Integrity API and our anti-fraud systems. On average, apps using Play Integrity features see 80% lower unauthorized usage, and our efforts have safeguarded top apps using Play Billing from $2.9 billion in fraud and abuse in the last year.

  • Automatically fix user issues: New Play in-app remediation prompts in Play Integrity API automatically guide users to fix common problems like network issues, outdated Google Play Services, or device integrity flags, reducing integration complexity and getting users back to a good state faster.

  • Combat repeat bad actors: Device recall is a powerful new tool that lets you store and recall limited data associated with a device, even if the device is reset, helping protect your business model from repeat bad actors.

  • Strengthen revenue protection: We’ve introduced stronger protections against abuse, including refining pricing arbitrage detection and enhancing protection against free trial and intro pricing abuse for subscriptions, helping your business models remain profitable.

With in-app remediation prompts, Play automatically handles
a wide range of issues to guide your users back to a good state.

For a full breakdown of new ways we’re keeping the ecosystem safe, check out our deep-dive blog post here.

Thank you for your partnership

This is an incredible time for Google Play. We’ve made huge strides together – your passion, creativity, and feedback throughout 2025 has made Play that much stronger. We’re grateful to work alongside the best developer community in the world, and we look forward to unlocking even greater success together in the new year.

Happy holidays!

A great user experience is built on a foundation of strong technical performance. We are committed to helping you create stable, responsive, and efficient apps that users love. Excessive battery drain is top of mind for your users, and together, we are taking significant steps to help you build more power-efficient apps.

Earlier this year, we introduced a new beta metric in Android vitals, excessive partial wake locks, to help you identify and address sources of battery drain. This initial beta metric was co-developed in close collaboration with Samsung, combining their deep, real-world insights into user experience with battery consumption with Android’s platform data.

We want to thank you for providing invaluable feedback during the beta period. Powered by your input and our continued collaboration with Samsung, we have further refined the algorithm to be even more accurate and representative. We are excited to announce that this refined metric is now generally available as a new core vitals metric to all developers in Android vitals.

We have defined a bad behavior threshold for excessive wake locks. Starting March 1, 2026, if your title does not meet this quality threshold, we may exclude the title from prominent discovery surfaces such as recommendations. In some cases, we may display a warning on your store listing to indicate to users that your app may cause excessive battery drain.

GOOGLE PLAY’S CORE TECHNICAL QUALITY METRICS

To maximize visibility on Google Play, keep your app below the bad behavior thresholds for these metrics.

User-perceived crash rate The percentage of daily active users who experienced at least one crash that is likely to have been noticeable
User-perceived ANR rate The percentage of daily active users who experienced at least one ANR that is likely to have been noticeable
Excessive battery usage The percentage of watch face sessions where battery usage exceeds 4.44% per hour
New: Excessive partial wake locks The percentage of user sessions where cumulative, non-exempt wake lock usage exceeds 2 hours

Excessive partial wake locks newly join the technical quality bars that Play expects all titles to maintain for a great user experience

This is the first in a series of new metrics designed to provide deeper insight into your app’s resource utilization, enabling you to improve the experience for your users across the entire Android ecosystem.

1. Aligning our definition of excessive wake locks with user expectations

Apps can hold wake locks to prevent the user’s device from entering sleep mode, letting the apps perform background work while the screen is off.

We consider a user session excessive if it holds more than 2 cumulative hours of non-exempt wake locks in a 24 hour period. These excessive sessions are a heavy contributor to battery drain. A wake lock is exempted if it is a system held wake lock that offers clear user benefits that cannot be further optimized, such as audio playback or user-initiated data transfer.

The bad behaviour threshold is crossed when 5% of an app’s user sessions over the last 28 days are excessive. If your app exceeds this threshold, you will be alerted directly on your Android vitals overview page. You can read more information about our definition on the Android Developer pages.

Android vitals will alert you to excessive wake lock issues and provide a table of wake lock tags to P90/ P99 duration to help you identify the source by wake lock name.

To help you understand your app’s partial wake lock usage, we are enhancing the excessive partial wake locks page in Android vitals with a new wake lock names table. This table breaks down wake lock sessions by their specific tag names and durations, allowing you to easily identify long wake locks in your local development environment, like Android Studio, for easier debugging. You should investigate any wake locks with P90 or P99 durations above 60 minutes.

2.  Excessive wake locks and their impact on Google Play visibility

If your title exceeds the bad behavior threshold for excessive wake locks, it may be ineligible for some discovery surfaces where users find new apps and games.

In some cases, we may also show a warning on your store listing to inform users that your app may cause their device’s battery to drain faster.

Users may see a warning on your store listing if your app exceeds the bad behavior threshold. Note: The exact text and design are subject to change.

We know making technical changes to your app’s code and how it works can be time consuming, so we are making the metric available for you to diagnose and fix potential issues now, with time before the Store visibility changes begin, starting from March 1, 2026.

3. What to do next

We encourage you to take the following steps to ensure your app delivers a great experience for users:

  1. Visit Android vitals: Review your app’s performance on the new excessive partial wake locks metric. The metric is now visible to all developers whose apps have wake lock sessions.

  2. Discover excessive partial wake locks: Use the new wake lock names table to identify excessive partial wake locks.

  3. Consult the documentation: For detailed guidance on best practices and fixing common issues, please check out our technical blog post, technical video and updated developer documentation on wake locks.

Thank you for your continued partnership in building high-quality, performant experiences that users can rely on every day.

The post New tools to help drive success for one-time products appeared first on InShot Pro.

Posted by Laura Nechita – Product Manager, Google Play and Rejane França – Group Product Manager, Google Play

Starting today, Google Play is revamping the way developers can manage one time products, providing greater flexibility and new ways to sell. Play has continually enhanced the ways developers can reach buyers by helping you to diversify the way you can sell products.

Starting in 2022, we created more flexibility for subscriptions and a new Console interface. And now, we are bringing the same flexibility to one-time products, aligning the taxonomy for our one-time products. Previously known as in-app products, one-time product purchases are a vital way for developers to monetize on Google Play. As this business model continues to evolve, we’ve heard from many of you that you need more flexibility and less complexity in how you offer these digital products.

To address these needs, we’re launching new capabilities and a new way of thinking about your products that can help you grow your business. At its core, we’ve separated what the product is from how you sell it. For each one-time product, you can now configure multiple purchase options and offers. This allows you to sell the same product in multiple ways, reducing operational costs by removing the need to create and manage an ever-increasing number of catalog items.

You might have already noticed some changes as we introduce this new model, which provides a more structured way to define and manage your one-time product offerings.

Introducing the new model

flow chart showing the new model hierarchy with one time product at the top, purchase options in the middle, and offers at the bottom

We’re introducing a new three-level hierarchy for defining and managing one-time products. This new structure builds upon concepts already familiar from our subscription model and aligns the taxonomy for all of your in-app product offerings on Play.

    • One-time product: This object defines what the user is buying. Think of it as the core item in your catalog, such as a “Diamond sword”, “Coins” or “No ads”.
    • Purchase option: This defines how the entitlement is granted to the user, its price, and where the product will be available. A single one-time product can have multiple purchase options representing different ways to acquire it, such as buying it or renting it for a set period of time. Purchase options now have two distinct types: buy and rent.
    • Offer: Offers further modify a purchase option and can be used to model discounts or pre-orders. A single purchase option can have multiple offers associated with it.

This allows for a more organized and efficient way to manage your catalog. For instance, you can have one “Diamond sword” product and offer it with a “Buy” purchase option in the US for $10 and a “Rent” purchase option in the UK for £5. This new taxonomy will also allow Play to better understand what the catalogue means, helping developers to further amplify their impact in Play surfaces.

More flexibility to reach more users

The new model unlocks significant flexibility to help you reach a wider audience and cater to different user preferences.

    • Sell in multiple ways: Once you’ve migrated to PBL 8, you can set up different ways of selling the same product. This reduces the complexity of managing numerous individual products for slightly different scenarios.
    • Introducing rentals: We’re introducing the ability to configure items that are sold as rentals. Users have access to the item for a set duration of time. You can define the rental period, which is the amount of time a user has the entitlement after completing the purchase, and an optional expiration period, which is the time after starting consumption before the entitlement is revoked.
    • Pre-order capabilities: You can now set up one-time products to be bought before their release through pre-order offers. You can configure the start date, end date, and the release date for these offers, and even include a discount. Users who pre-order agree to pay on the release date unless they cancel beforehand.
    • No default price: we will remove the concept of default price for a product. Now you can set and manage the prices in bulk or individually for each region.
    • Regional pricing and availability: Price changes can now be applied to purchase options and offers, allowing you to set different prices in different regions. Furthermore, you can also configure the regional availability for both purchase options and offers. This functionality is available for paid apps in addition to one-time products.
    • Offers for promotions: Leverage offers to create various promotions, such as discounts on your base purchase price or special conditions for early access through pre-orders.

To use these new features you first need to upgrade to PBL 8.0. Then, you’ll need to utilize the new monetization.onetimeproducts service of the Play Developer API or use the Play Developer Console. You’ll also need to integrate with the queryProductDetailsAsync API to take advantage of these new capabilities. And while querySkuDetailsAsync and inappproducts service are not supported with the new model, they will continue to be supported as long as PBL 7 is supported.

Important considerations

    • With this change, we will offer a backwards compatible way to port your existing SKUs into this new model. The migration will happen differently depending on how you decide to interact with your catalogue the first time you change the metadata for one or more products.
    • New products created through Play Console UI are normalized. And products created or managed with the existing inappproducts service won’t support these new features. To access them, you’ll need to convert existing ones in the Play Developer Console UI. Once converted, a product can only be managed through the new Play Developer API or Play Developer Console. Products created through the new monetization.onetimeproducts service or through the Play Developer Console are already converted.
    • Buy purchase options marked as ‘Backwards compatible’ will be returned as response for calls through querySkuDetailsAsync API. At launch, all existing products have a backwards compatible purchase option.
    • At the time of this post, the pre-orders capability is available through the Early Access Program (EAP) only. If you are interested, please sign-up.
    • One-time products will be reflected in the earnings reports at launch (Base plan ID and Offer ID columns will be populated for newly configured one-time products). To minimise the potential for breaking changes, we will be updating these column names in the earnings reports later this year.

We encourage you to explore the new Play Developer API and the updated Play Console interface to see how this enhanced flexibility can help you better manage your catalog and grow your business.

We’re excited to see how you leverage these new tools to connect with your users in innovative ways.

At Google Play, we’re dedicated to helping people discover experiences they’ll love, while empowering developers like you to bring your ideas to life and build successful businesses.

At this year’s Google I/O, we unveiled the latest ways we’re empowering your success with new tools that provide robust testing and actionable insights. We also showcased how we’re continuing to build a content-rich Play Store that fosters repeat engagement alongside new subscription capabilities that streamline checkout and reduce churn.

Check out all exciting developments from I/O that will help you grow your business on Google Play. Continue reading or watch the session to dive in.

Helping you succeed every step of the way

Last month, we introduced our latest Play Console updates focused on improving quality and performance. A redesigned app dashboard centered around four developer objectives (Test and release, Monitor and improve, Grow users, Monetize) and new Android vitals metrics offer quick insights and actionable suggestions to proactively improve the user experience.

Get more actionable insights with new Play Console overview pages

Building on these updates, we’ve launched dedicated overview pages for two developer objectives: Test and release and Monitor and improve. These new pages bring together more objective-related metrics, relevant features, and a “Take action” section with contextual, dynamic advice. Overview pages for Grow and Monetize will be coming soon.

Halt fully-rolled out releases when needed

Historically, a release at 100% live meant there was no turning back, leaving users stuck with a flawed version until a new update rolled out. Soon, you’ll be able to halt fully-live releases, through Play Console and the Publishing API to stop the distribution of problematic versions to new users.

You’ll soon be able to halt fully live releases directly from Play Console and the Publishing API, stopping the distribution of problematic versions to new users.

Optimize your store listings with better management tools and metrics

We launched two tools to enhance your store listings. The asset library makes it easy to upload, edit, and view your visual assets. Upload them from Google Drive, organize with tags, and crop for repurposing. And with new open metrics, you gain deeper insights into listing performance so you can better understand how they attract, engage, and re-engage users.

Stay ahead of threats with the Play Integrity API

We’re committed to robust security and preventing abuse so you can thrive on Play’s trusted platform. The Play Integrity API continuously evolves to combat emerging threats, with these recent enhancements:

    • Stronger abuse detection for all developers that leverages the latest Android hardware-security with no developer effort required.
    • Device security update checks to safeguard your app’s sensitive actions like transfers or data access.
    • Public beta for device recall which enables you to detect if a device is being reused for abuse or repeated actions, even after a device reset. You can express interest in this beta.

Unlocking more discovery and engagement for your apps and its content

Last year, we shared our vision for a content-rich Google Play that has already delivered strong results. Year-over-year, Apps Home has seen over a 25% increase in average monthly visitors with apps seeing a 10% growth in acquisitions and double-digit growth in app spend for those monetizing on Google Play. Building on that vision, we’re introducing even more updates to elevate your discovery and engagement, both on and off the store.

For example, curated spaces, launched last year, celebrate seasonal interests like football (soccer) in Brazil and cricket in India, and evergreen interests like comics in Japan. By adding daily content—match highlights, promotions, and editorial articles directly on the Apps Home—these spaces foster discovery and engagement. Curated spaces are a hit with over 920,000 highly engaged users in Japan returning to the comics space monthly. Building on this momentum, we are expanding to more locations and categories this year.

Our curated spaces add daily content to foster repeat discovery and engagement.

We’re launching new topic browse pages that feature timely, relevant, and visually engaging content. Users can find them throughout the Store, including Apps Home, store listing pages, and search. These pages debut this month in the US with Media & Entertainment, showcasing over 100,000 shows, movies, and select sports. More localized topic pages will roll out globally later this year.

New topic browse pages for media and entertainment are rolling out this month in the US.

We’re expanding Where to Watch to more markets, including the UK, Korea, Indonesia, and Mexico, to help users find and deep-link directly into their subscribed apps for movies and TV. Since launching in the US in November 2024, we’ve seen promising results: People who view app content through Where to Watch return to Play more frequently and increase their content search activity by 30%.

We’re also enhancing how your content is displayed on the Play Store. Starting this July, all app developers can add a hero content carousel and a YouTube playlist carousel to their store listings. These formats will help showcase your best content and drive greater user engagement and discovery.

For apps best experienced through sound, we’re launching audio samples on the Apps Home. A simple tap offers users a brief escape into your audio content. In early testing, audio samples made users 3x more likely to install or open an app! This feature is now available for all Health & Wellness app developers with users in the US, with more categories and markets coming soon. You can express your interest in promoting audio content.

Helping you take advantage of deeper engagement on Play, on and off the Store

Last year, we introduced Engage SDK, a unified solution to deliver personalized content and guide users to relevant in-app experiences. Integrating it unlocks surfaces like Collections, our immersive full-screen experience bringing content directly to the user’s home screen.

We’re rolling out updates to expand your content’s reach even further:

    • Engage SDK content is coming to the Play Store this summer, in addition to existing spaces like Collections and Entertainment Space on select Android tablets.
    • New content categories are now supported, starting today with Travel.
    • Collections are rolling out globally to Google Play markets starting today, including Brazil, India, Indonesia, Japan, and Mexico.

Integrate with Engage SDK today to take advantage of this new expansion and boost re-engagement. Try our codelab to test the ease of publishing content with Engage SDK and express interest in the developer preview.

Users can find timely itineraries and recent searches, all in one convenient place.

Maximizing your revenue with subscriptions enhancements

With over a quarter-billion subscriptions, Google Play is one of the world’s largest subscriptions platforms. We’re committed to helping you turn engaged users into revenue growth by continually enhancing our tools to meet evolving customer needs.

To streamline your purchase flow, we’re introducing multi-product checkout for subscriptions. This lets you sell subscription add-ons alongside base subscriptions, all under a single, aligned payment schedule. Users get a simplified experience with one price and one transaction, while you gain more control over how subscribers upgrade, downgrade, or manage their add-ons.

You can now sell base subscriptions and add-ons together
in a single, streamlined transaction.

To help you retain more of your subscribers, we’re now showcasing subscription benefits in more places across Play – including the Subscriptions Center, in reminder emails, and during purchase and cancellation flows. This increased visibility has already reduced voluntary churn by 2%. Be sure to enter your subscription benefits in Play Console so you can leverage this powerful new capability.

To help reduce voluntary churn, we’re showcasing your subscriptions benefits across Play.

Reducing involuntary churn is a key factor in optimizing your revenue. When payment methods unexpectedly decline, users might unintentionally cancel. Now, instead of immediate cancellation, you can now choose a grace period (up to 30 days) or an account hold (up to 60 days). Developers who increased the decline recovery period – from 30 to 60 days – saw an average 10% reduction in involuntary churn for renewals.

On top of this, we’re expanding our commitment to get more buyers ready for purchases throughout their entire journey. This includes prompting users to set up payment methods and verification right at device setup. After setup, we’ve integrated prompts into highly visible areas like the Play and Google account menus. And as always, we’re continuously enabling payments in more markets and expanding payment options. Plus, our AI models now help optimize in-app transactions by suggesting the right payment method at the right time, and we’re bringing buyers back with effective cart abandonment reminders.

Grow your business on Google Play

Our latest updates reinforce our commitment to fostering a thriving Google Play ecosystem. From enhanced discovery and robust tools to new monetization avenues, we’re empowering you to innovate and grow. We’re excited for the future we’re building together and encourage you to use these new capabilities to create even more impactful experiences. Thank you for being an essential part of the Google Play community.
